Wisconsin Judgment Collection Exemptions
The Wisconsin Statutes offer judgment debtors protections by exempting certain assets from collection and post-judgment execution under certain circumstances. The Wisconsin collection exemptions help clarify what assets are unreachable by the creditor if the exemption is claimed and even though there is no doubt from a legal standpoint that the debtor owes the money because a judgment has been ordered and entered. It may be helpful for creditors to understand these exemptions prior to entering into a business relationship and/or while framing and/or revising credit applications and credit approval processes and procedures.
